CTA re-designed the cabin crew uniform in 2009 to meet the latest fashion. Since the month of May, CTA cabin crew welcome guests on the plane with their new caps. Cabin crew started adorning their new uniforms with caps on May 5, 2009 and brought an air of nostalgia into the planes. This new piece of accessory has created an excitement among CTA staff and has been approved by passengers. 12 May 2009 Mesarya joins CTA fleet Cyprus Turkish Airlines, the flag-bearer national airlines company of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, has welcomed a Boeing 737-800, named Mesarya, to its fleet with a special ceremony held at Ercan Airport. The plane, furnished with the state-of-the-art technological equipments, has a capacity of 18 seats. The new Boeing 737-800, purchased by Cyprus Turkish Airlines (CTA), joined the fleet with a special ceremony held at Ercan Airport on Wednesday May 13. CTA raised its fleet to seven planes with this new plane, purchased to meet the increased number of passengers now that new flight destinations added. Furnished with the state-of-the-art technological equipments, Mesarya has a capacity of 180 seats. CTA now increased its total seats capacity to 1100. 06 May 2009 CTA’s gesture to mothers Cyprus Turkish Airlines (CTA) organized a lottery on the occasion of Mother’s Day between May 6 and 9. Ten mothers among those who bought tickets from CTA offices and agencies in North Cyprus won return tickets to their preferred destination in Turkey. General Manager Captain Pilot Ahmet Akpınar stated that this symbolic gesture should express the gratification and respect CTA family bears to all mothers in the world. Owner of London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, and many other airports, world’s leading airport company British Airport Authority (BAA) has evaluated all airlines flying to London Stansted in March 2009. According to this evaluation, CTA is listed among the top five in twenty-seven airlines companies flying to London Stansted. The flag bearer airlines company of North Cyprus, CTA adds a new destination to its catalogue of flights. Attracting more passangers everyday with its wide web of routes and high quality service, CTA not only launches new flights to new destinations but also increases its flight frequency. Operating two return flights per day to İstanbul Atatürk Airport, CTA has introduced a new route via İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to London Stansted. The new route will operate on Fridays and Sundays as of April 3, 2009. Scheduled flights on Friday depart for London Stansted at 08:30 from Ercan, and 10:45 from İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. On Sundays, scheduled flights depart for London Stansted at 16:00 from Ercan and 18:45 from İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. New security regulation at Turkish Airports As from 1st of March 2009, liquid amount that airline passengers might carry in their handbags/cabin bags, which they will keep onboard during the flight, is going to be restricted at the airports of Turkey in accordance with the ICAO and ECAC regulations.
