The History of KTHY

1974- CTA is established in Nicosia on 4th December as an equal partnership between Turkish Airlines and Cyprus Turkish Society Assembly Consolidated Development Fund.

1975
- The first scheduled flight takes place on 3rd February.  The first sales offices open in Turkey.

1976-
A fleet of DC9, Boeing 727-200 and Boeing 707s are leased and join the fleet.

1976-The Kyrenia sales offices are opened.

1979- The headquarters building is opened.

1981-Scheduled flights to London

1990-
Two Boeing 727-200 aeroplanes are bought.

1991-Flight attendants and ground personnel are employed.

1992-
CTA opens its first hospitality facility.

1993-
The third Boeing 727-200 plane is purchased.

1995-
The first Airbus 310-200 is bought.

1996-The fourth Boeing 727-200 plane is bought.

1999- The second Airbus 310-200 joins the fleet.

2000
- Two Boeing 737-800 aircraft are acquired on long term lease.

2001-
A third Boeing 737-800 is leased long term.

2002
- Four Boeing 727-200 planes which have come to the end of their usefulness are sold.

2004- Three Airbus 321-200 planes are taken on with a long term lease.   The in-flight magazine Caretta Caretta is first published.

2004-October  Online reservation and ticket sales are established.

2005- The 50% shares held by the Turkish Republic privatisation office are given to the TRNC on 9th September.

2006-April  ISO 9001-2000 quality management systems certificates are received.

2006-18th June  Gaziantep flights are commenced.

2006-2nd September Trabzon flights are commenced.

2006- September,  DCS Systems at Ercan are applied.

2006-December.  Ground services at Ercan Airport are put into the hands of HAVAŞ.

2007- April.  Cyprus Airport Services is established with HAVAŞ.

2007-
May21st.  The first Birmingham flight.

2007-
5th October.  An electronic ticketing system is established.
