Lost Or Damaged Baggage Services

CTA’s responsibility in relation to lost or damaged luggage is limited by the Warsaw/Hague Protocol.  This protocol states that the maximum responsibility of the carrier is for the checked in weight as stated on the ticket. 


Passengers should try not to take luggage that looks similar to theirs from the baggage carousel.  Should you be unable to retrieve your luggage from the carousel, show your ticket with the baggage tags to the personnel at the lost luggage desk and describe the type, brand, colour and contents of the lost item.  For luggage which is damaged in transit a Baggage Damage Report should be prepared after landing and before clearing customs. 

Retain the Baggage Damage Report, the baggage tags and the flight ticket.  No procedures can be entered into without the Baggage Damage Report.  Belongings inside the lost luggage item(s) should be written down and presented along with the baggage tags and the flight ticket.  Any restricted items that may be damaged or lost are the sole responsibility of the passenger. 
The value of lost or damaged luggage is fixed by the Company except in cases where this cannot be done in which instance the IATA will apply the lost and damaged baggage regulations.
If your luggage cannot be found within 15 days, please apply to the nearest CTA office or to the Central Lost Property Centre with your lost baggage  form, original flight ticket, baggage tag(s), excess baggage receipt (if applicable) and your identity documents.
