When travelling between Cyprus and Turkey, TRNC citizens and Turkish Republic
citizens can use either their id cards or their passports. From other departure
points a passport and a visa is necessary to enter the TRNC. At the point
of arrival, a three month visa is issued. This visa can be extended on application
to the TRNC immigration office. Children up to the age of sixteen can entre
the TRNC on their parents’ passports. Passengers under eighteen must have
a document signed by their parents stating that they may enter the TRNC.
Provided
they have this permission, police officers at entry will permit them to pass.
If one parent is accompanying the child, then that parent must have a paper
from a public notary stating that the absent parent consents to the child entering
the TRNC. This paper should be no more than six months old.
There are no customs charges for the possessions and for the food carried by
tourists.
It is illegal to take archaeological and other historical artefacts out of the
country.
