Trainings

Our training programmes are divided in two –Training in the air and Training on the ground.

Cockpit, cabin and dispatch training which is done in-company is planned and put into practice by the Presidency of Flight Training and Standards.  It applies the logic of maximising the use of all learning tools, and enabling the cockpit and cabin crew to work in the most productive way in accordance with the zero-mistakes principle.

To these ends flight and ground training, and the direction of flight crews, is carried out in accordance with the national and international JAA and ICAO rules – in parallel with directions from Civil Aviation General Headquarters.

Simulation training for cockpit crews in relation to ground operations is carried out with Turkish Airline’s GECAT and with Lufthansa on their premises with their instructors.  Initial training and refresher courses for cabin personnel are carried out on our own premises with our own instructors.  Training in transportation of hazardous substances, and training in first aid, is implemented by supply instructors from contracted companies.

Training on the ground

All bar flight personnel are included in training on the ground. This training includes all the educational means by which staff can increase their performance in terms of thought, rational thinking patterns, behaviour, attitudes and manners and thus enhance their effectiveness and  success in carrying out their duties.  Ground training includes the fields of quality, finance, trade, technical matters, business, human resources and administration and information technology.  Also included is the non technical behavioural training of the flight crew.  Training on the ground consists of addressing needs determined by comparing the demands issuing from the various branches of the organisation and the knowledge and skills of the personnel concerned.   Then shortfalls can be addressed.  Training projects are determined at the end of any given year and commenced at the beginning of the year.  Training at the beginning of the year is carried out by the external resources assets of the Turkish Airlines Training Academy, and by Company personnel who have been developed for these purposes.  In 2006 thirty different training programmes ran, and a total of 798 personnel underwent training schemes.  This is to be increased in 2007.
